What is it for?

To put an end to recurring caused by abnormal nail curvature.

What is it?

A nail orthosis made of a titanium wire attached to the nail with two composite anchors, which are bonded using a light-curing lamp in a painless procedure. Its purpose is to restore the nail’s natural shape.

How does it work?

The wire applies traction to the nail, which gradually regains a normal curvature as it grows.

How long does it take?

Treatment takes between 12 and 18 months, corresponding to the complete regrowth time of a toenail and depending on the degree of deformity.

It is a permanent treatment based on the same principle as orthodontic braces.

How does the treatment proceed?

The first fitting must be preceded by podiatric care. You will then need to return to the clinic regularly to have your nails trimmed and the wire checked, approximately every one to two months depending on how quickly your nails grow. You must not trim your nails yourself, as an incorrect cut could cause another . The wire will then need to be repositioned when it reaches the end of the nail if the deformity is still present.

A complete may sometimes need to be redone because: - as the nail straightens, the wire may become too short - a different wire diameter may be needed to apply more or less traction

Warnings:

Pain in the nail grooves will disappear only if the is caused by the nail’s curvature, such as a pincer nail, a laterally folded nail or a tile-shaped nail. If the problem is caused by incorrect nail trimming or a periungual , for example, the treatment may not be effective.

The podiatrist can advise you but is not responsible for the decision you make when committing to this treatment. This means that you will not receive a refund if the treatment is ineffective.

The podiatrist may decide to suspend treatment temporarily when necessary, particularly if there is a contraindication such as a broken or detached nail or a .

Precautions:

You may wash normally while wearing the orthosis, but you must avoid impacts such as kicking a ball, as they can dislodge it. Repeated microtrauma to the nail, for example when an upturned toe repeatedly strikes the shoe, may also cause the to detach.

Avoid tight shoes and footwear made from hard materials.

Do not apply greasy products, oil or cream to the nail being treated.

Do not trim or file your nails yourself throughout the treatment.

What if the comes off?

If you lose it, you will need to pay the initial fitting fee again.

If it comes off the day after fitting due to a professional error, the podiatrist will replace the at no charge, provided that you contact the clinic as soon as it happens.

🔎

A is a benign, contagious growth caused by a virus from the human papillomavirus family.

The virus can enter the skin when it is damp, for example at a swimming pool, or through a wound that has not been properly disinfected. The body does not recognize the virus and therefore does not trigger the expected immune response. Our role is to treat the area so that the body detects the problem and begins to respond. Several sessions are therefore often necessary.

A may become painful over time because pressure from the body’s weight pushes it deeper into the sole. It is often round, dotted with small black points and painful when pinched from the sides.
